In the French drawing room the Louis XV-Louis XVI style furniture is of local manufacture.
There we can find an oil-painting by Edouard Jeanmaire showing a wooded pasture typical of the region. Edouard Jeanmaire was born in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1847. A troublesome student, he was sent to boarding school in Germany by his father where he developed a particular interest in painting. On his return to La Chaux-de-Fonds, his watchmaker father found him work in an enamelling workshop. His apprenticeship master moved to Geneva and Jeanmaire went with him. As well as his apprenticeship, Jeanmaire was a frequent visitor at the College of Fine Arts. Later in life, he would return to spend his summers in La Chaux-de-Fonds on the farm inherited from his mother.
